Plugins for existing Apps

Echo Stream Client Plugins

These are all plugin ideas for the Echo Stream Client (ESC)

1. UserMentionHighlighter - Detect @mentions and link them to Twitter user profiles. 

2. TweetMention - When replying to a Twitter user, the JanrainSharing plugin should be pre-populated with an @ reply rather than a new root tweet

3. ItemSharing - A share button on each item so users can share any item they find interesting
4. IgnoreUsers - A button that saves the given identity into the KVS. It then hides items authored by those users. 
5. Hide bad words without hiding entire comment - An ability to replace specific words in comments with predefined strings (symbols) rather than hide the entire comment. For instance if a user posts a comment containing "badword", instead of hiding the entire comment would simply replace "badword" with "b@$#@d" (or "******") and leave the remaining words untouched. Now part of the Echo Badword Filter
6. Animation Themes. A plugin that makes 1 or more new animations available for the ESC for various item transitions - particularly the 'new item' animation which could easily be improved. 
7. Render Themes. A plugin that makes 1 or more new presentation styles available for the ESC

Echo Submit Form Plugins

These are all plugin ideas for the Echo Submit Form

1. UserMentionSuggester - As as user types in the submit form, if they type @ (as the first character of a new sentence) the plugin brings up a suggestion list (inline). The list should list users they might want to address. The list would be narrowed in scope by a) of users in the thread b) the given user's friends list (obtained via Backplane). Blocker: Backplane does not yet support retrieval of a user's friend list.
2. LoginWhilePosting - If a user is not logged in and clicks the post button, the current functionality just highlights the headline above the form textfield.  Ideally, it could popup the Login Lightbox+URL, save any comment text and pre-populate the form after the logged-in refresh.

New Apps 

Hovercard Client

1. Wrap all avatars and username references with the 'User' div
2. On user div hover, load a hover card for that user based on the social identity they logged in as.
3. Suggestion: The hover card should support a presentation parameter that allows multiple plugins or apps to be loaded into tabs so that it can be extended to show more and more user info

Flipboard style Visualization

1. Rendering items as a magazine style experience 

Comments Product

There is an opportunity to use the Echo components to create a simple, out of the box commenting product for Wordpress/Drupal etc. This would involve creating the plugins and admin dashboard to easily configure options and adopt the product.

This is essentially productizing the 'Commenting' use case.

Quora style Q&A Product

There is an opportunity to learn from Sports Illustrated's custom Q&A product to create a productized Quora style Q&A system. Most (if not all) the components already existing it just needs to be packaged and delivered as a polished product. It would be based on the Q&A Use case (please note this page uses OLD scripts and would need major re-factoring of the described customizations).
